Travel Tuesdays #11: Fire

This photo was taken in Cuba in March 2007.

We were just driving along when we saw what we thought, at first, was a bonfire. Turned out the whole field was aflame. No-one except me seemed in the slightest bit perturbed by this.

Wow! That's crazy. Did you ever discover why it was afire?

Maybe it was on purpose? They burn fields here sometimes... the first time I saw it, I nearly had a heart attack, but then I was told why they do it (which, of course, I can't remember now... it was a long time ago).

Oh my I have been busy today getting ready to teach my first culinary class tomorrow and saw a glimpse of this, Wow, I would have ran screaming, but was anyone around?

I don't recall why they burn off fields, but I know they do sometimes....

Controlled burn? That would still be freaky though.

I take it you didn't get out of your vehicle and start stomping?

Why were people not bothered by this? Odd.
