Every train should have one...
I think I have a new favourite cafe! It's in Deptford, London so I won't get to go there very often, but take a look at this:
Yes, it's a cafe in a train carriage: I love it.
It's brightly painted outside...
...light and surprisingly spacious inside...
...with friendly staff, great coffee, and a nice selection of food.
The sandwiches looked amazing - beautifully presented and imaginative - but in the end we settled on coffee and a scone.
Incidentally, these are photos taken on my new phone, since I didn't take my camera with me. Not bad, all things considered.

The scones look delicious, and I like the idea of putting a cafe in a train car!
Sorry if I said this twice, I wrote a comment that just disappeared.
Camillo and I would just love this. The best of recycling. I have always wanted to try scones - your scones and my homemade jams would be the best.
hugs and kisses from Brasil
Wow, I ran across one that had been left to the wild growth of north jersey, and time took its toll, but if I was rich I would have bought it right up and made it my own cafe...it is by a river, I will post that again soon...
I love your photos, and I am not just sucking up, but great blog...
Oh wow! What a great idea to have a cafe in a train carriage. And the outside is so pretty. I'll have to go there at some point :)
I have seen restaurants in old railroad cars, antique ones. Usually barbeque. Never in a modern train car. Very cool and fun.
Wow I'm really glad you posted this, this place looks wonderful, I may well try it out next time I'm in London. Beautiful photos too your camera phone is obviously pretty good!
They have put butter on the scone and the café was wonderful too, but most of all the serving girls and boys are always friendly.
In Washington, where I lived thirty years ago it was in an old bus, my favorite place to stop and eat, running from work to university. I loved also the people who came and the atmosphere.
The one in Deptford the restaurant is not in a "modern" train, it was one of those still running on carbon, I think.
Even more, it was great to be there, together.
Wonderful photos, I did never seen the place so great!
Must look out for that when I visit my sister who lives near there. Looks fantastic
How fantastic is that!?! I would love to visit that cafe! You camera phone has done you proud :)
