Honestly, I'm not sure what this is. It looks like a crane graveyard, but then again a lot of the segments looked pretty shiny & new, so maybe it's a crane maternity ward. Who knows? It looked pretty incredible.
We went for a drive over to Sharpness Docks, which is an industrial docklands area on the river Severn. The road my husband wanted to drive along was closed for repairs, so we parked up and walked - and saw this incredible yard as we wandered towards the river.
I can't help thinking what a great place it would be to play for kids who live locally - like a million climbing frames at once. If I'd been able to get into a place like this when I was a teenager, I'd have loved it.
Then you reach the canal, which has the kind of industrial buildings and warehouses that you might expect, and plenty of cranes that are fully built and functional.
Cross the canal, however, to the banks of the Severn and it's hard to believe the sudden change in scenery.
Is it just me, or is there something strangely beautiful even about the industrial scenes? Especially on a quiet weekend afternoon, in the spring sunshine.
