Are These Real?

I saw these apple gourds at the Boulder farmers' market. I couldn't work out if those were natural colours, they look so much like they've been dipped in gloss paint! And, having no cooking facilities here, it would be wasteful to buy one so I have no way to find out. Does anyone know?

At a guess I'd say they're fake, partly because it looks like they're surrounded by dried flowers, or at least the look dried to me. Plus the leaves are a little too perfect.

I feel stupid, as I've never heard of an apple 'gourd'! Apples we eat every day, though, and they look much nicer than any apples I've seen at the grocery store :).

Oh my,now you have me curious, I have never seen those, but they do wax them, or at least apples...

I will get back to you on this one! I want one, I can provide shipping address :)

I think they're just decorative--I've never seen gourds with that type of stem & leaves before. Not sure if they're painted or not....

Rachel,

Clearly the Gourds are for Decoration. You should not eat them!

They are for decoration - aren't they gorgeous? My big sis made 'em! I'm so proud of her!

I think that they are real apple gourds...whatever an apple gourd is. Probably a gourd painted to look like an apple.

I thinking fake too. But they are new to me.

I vote fake. They are too perfect and too strangely colored to be real.
